AR Rahman: We don't have a platform for exploiting musical themes
The maestro of music AR Rahman was in the city today to launch the anthem of Premier Futsal League.

The most interesting part of the event was when Rahman was asked an opinion on a biopic of RD Burman. Here's what he had to say.

"I would love to see a biopic of Bismillah Khan sahab, Kumar Gandharva and Leela Sahastrabuddhe. In my opinion, the films have always shown the musicians suffering as an alcoholic, his wife abandons him and then he dies. Which is why I made my own production house - YM Movies and my movie 99 Padangal is about music. I want to change that."

Rahman along with his team has been researching about Indian raagas for the past five years. "We don't have a platform for exploiting musical themes, so it becomes boring. We have a set formula and the music is used more for promotion and less for exploring," he added.

Rahman has collaborated with the Virat Kohli for singing the anthem Naam Hai Futsal for which he was seen shaking a leg with the cricketer. He also revealed that Virat is a good singer who has a sense of rythm, so making him sing wasn't a task.
